Popular Nigerian Afrofusion and award winning singer, Damini Ogulu also known as Burna Boy has announced that American singer, Toni Braxton will get 60 percent of earnings from his latest hit single “Last Last”.
Burna Boy, who made this revelation in a recent interview with the Million Dollar Worth of Game podcast, aired on Sunday, July 3rd 2022 said it was his idea to sample the American singer’s song Chopstix who is the producer of the hit track, featured a sample of Toni Braxton’s 2000 R&B hit, “He Wasn’t Man Enough”.
Oluwa Burna who added that he just wanted to make use of the said sample hit song and knew Chopstix was the only one who could do something crazy with it.
He said, “It was actually my idea to be honest. I just wanted to use that sample and I knew Chopstix could do something crazy with it. I just pointed that shit out and he took it from there. That’s one of the most creative processes ever.
But she is taking 60 percent of the shit. I’m not complaining. Hopefully, she even comes out to one of the shows”.
This latest development has caused a huge buzz online among netizens especially on Twitter as many expressed their opinion about her percentage being on a high side while a few thought it a good risk to take as it would earn him more spots on concerts abroad.
I could be recalled that Burna Boy had earlier made a revelation about his hit song, Last Last which he attested that the song was indeed a break up song, which was inspired from his broken relationship with his British ex girlfriend, Stefflon Don.
Burna publicly made this known on his TikTok page as he made fun of the heartbreak.
However, the Afrofusion singer who sang a line from the song at the top of his voice, “She manipulate my love”.
Although, its likely from his indication that Stefflon Don used him and manipulated his love for her.
Burna showed how thrilled he was towards fans who are vibing to his heartbreak song.
He wrote, “When I made a heartbreak song but everyone is turning up to it”.
