South Africa 🇿🇦 has joined international efforts to combat the ongoing Bundibugyo Ebola outbreak spreading in parts of the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda.
Researchers at Stellenbosch University are playing a key role in developing new vaccines, quicker diagnostic tests, and potential treatments, including the use of mRNA technology. This rare strain of Ebola currently has no approved vaccine or specific cure.


Global health experts are now urgently fast-tracking promising candidates into human clinical trials amid rising concerns about the outbreak.
