The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), is expected to attend the sixth edition of the Nigeria mining week slated from November 1 to 3.
The Minister of Mines, Steel Development, Olamilekan Adegbite, revealed this during a pre-event press conference held at the ministry’s headquarters in Abuja on Thursday.
While speaking to journalists, the minister assured investors and stakeholders that Abuja was absolutely safe to host the event.
He gave the assurance following a spread of security threats issued by foreign countries warning their citizens about impending terrorist attacks.
He said, “The Federal Government is not resting on its oars to ensure the safety of lives and property in the country, adding that the Nigerian security apparatus have been duly briefed to take care of the security situation.”
He noted that, “the fact that Abuja is safe is evidenced in the fact that His Excellency, Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria will declare the event open.”
