The delegation from Benue, currently on a working visit to China, today participated in a series of workshops and exhibitions at Huawei’s Bantian Headquarters in Shenzhen.
Led by top government officials, the delegation explored cutting-edge technological solutions in areas critical to the state’s development, including security and public safety, agriculture, education, healthcare, and transportation.
The day began with an intensive workshop on Collaborative Public Safety Solutions, covering e-governance, smart agriculture, e-education, smart healthcare management, and advanced security response technology.
Delegates were introduced to Huawei’s flagship innovations designed to streamline safety and governance. The session also highlighted ICT talent development, which Benue State hopes to leverage for future growth. This workshop took place at Huawei’s F District in Bantian.
Notably, the partnership between Huawei Technologies and the Benue State Government has already attracted a fully funded, brand-new ICT Academy, to be situated at Benue State University, Makurdi.
Following the workshop, the delegation visited Exhibition Hall 1 in the A District of Huawei Headquarters, where they were given a comprehensive overview of the latest smart transport management systems.
The exhibits focused on intelligent urban mobility technologies, which could be a potential game-changer for transportation infrastructure in Benue.
The next stop was Exhibition Hall J, showcasing Huawei’s cutting-edge public safety surveillance and management technologies.
The Benue delegation explored systems designed to monitor and enhance public safety through advanced surveillance tools, solutions which could have broad applications for security management in the state.
In the afternoon, the delegation toured Shenzhen No. 2 Middle School in the Luohu District, regarded as one of China’s top smart schools.
The institution, powered entirely by Huawei’s smart infrastructure, demonstrated the integration of modern technology into education, providing a model of what 21st-century schooling could look like in Benue.
The day concluded with a formal dinner at Wanxiangcheng, Shenzhen City, hosted and funded by Huawei Technologies. The dinner allowed for further engagement between the Benue delegation and Huawei executives as discussions on future partnerships continued.
The Benue State Government views this visit as a significant step in its quest to modernize the state’s infrastructure and public services, building on the opportunities provided by emerging technologies.
Huawei’s commitment to innovation and collaboration could see Benue take major strides in areas such as education, agriculture, healthcare, and transportation in the coming years.
Huawei Technologies is hosting the delegation for the duration of its visit, reaffirming its strategic partnership with the Benue State Government.

This visit is part of the state government’s broader strategy to harness global innovations for local development, with the goal of improving public services and enhancing economic growth in Benue.
