Speaking recently at a forum with Town Planning Executives at the LASPPPA Office in Ikeja, the General Manager of LSMTL, Engr. Olayinka Abdul reiterated her Agency’s commitment to ensuring the safety of structures across the State, using quality materials.

She said, “Issues of building collapse have become a professional embarrassment to highly skilled Engineers, especially those in policy formulation platforms. Hence, this partnership with LASPPPA is to accelerate all technical possibilities of averting incidences of collapse through swift, prompt and deliberate processes in ensuring structurally habitable buildings. Henceforth, part of the prerequisites for materials test is the presentation of a valid Planning Permit for structures”.

While reiterating the mandate of LSMTL in checking building materials, Engr. Abdul disclosed that the Agency is reviewing its system through processes that will validate its results. When the results are taken anywhere in the world, they are considered credible in every assessment process on material tests.

“We are laboratory specialists with credible results that will be interpreted by Structural Engineers. I must say we will never settle for mediocrity in all its forms, as it behoves Engineers being professionals to have a good legacy which the future generations can adequately bank on”, she added.

The General Manager of LASPPPA, Tpl. Kehinde Osinaike said all remodelling and structural procedures across Lagos State require considerable tests to ascertain the safety of structures across the Metropolis. Hence, the formed synergy will reunite all strategies and modalities in checking errant developers who disregard people’s safety for their financial benefit.
