A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State, led by Nname Ewor, has formally dissolved and merged with the Aaron Chukwemeka-led committee aligned with Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

Ewor, who was previously loyal to Governor Siminalayi Fubara, announced the decision during Wike’s “thank you” visit to Ogba Egbema Ndoni (ONELGA) Local Government Area on Friday.
Explaining the defection, Ewor said he lost trust in Governor Fubara, accusing him of failing to honour agreements mediated twice by President Bola Tinubu.
“If the president mediated twice, that means you cannot be trusted. Can such a leader be trusted? We can’t trust him,” Ewor said.
He dismissed claims that Wike had undermined or intimidated his leadership, stressing that the minister did not frustrate his tenure as factional chairman. According to him, the PDP in Rivers State is now unified under Wike’s leadership.

Chairman of ONELGA, Chukwu Ogbogu, praised Wike for his visit and cited developmental projects and political appointments that benefited residents during his time as governor.
Also speaking, Nkemjika Ezekwe, representing ONELGA II State Constituency, described Wike as a strong advocate for women empowerment, noting that his policies improved women’s participation and financial independence in Rivers State.
Coordinator of the Abuja Metropolitan Management Council, Felix Obuah, referred to Wike as a “divine project” and commended his role in fostering unity across the state.
In his remarks, Wike thanked the people of ONELGA for their loyalty, describing the area as a stronghold of his supporters. He said Rivers residents were working together under the “Renewed Hope Family for Tinubu” initiative to support President Bola Tinubu, regardless of party affiliation.
The development underscores Wike’s growing political influence in Rivers State and signals a consolidation of support ahead of future elections.
