The House Of Representatives witnessed a wave of political realignments today as Minority Leader Kingsley Chinda defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), while six lawmakers from Oyo State and others across different states left the PDP and APC for smaller parties, including the African People’s Movement (APM) and other platforms.

Auwalu Gwalabe (Bauchi) — PDP → APM

Shehu Dalhatu (Katsina) — APC → PDP

Etanabene Benedict (Delta) — Labour Party → PDP

Alex Egbona — APC → PDP

Esosa Iyawe (Edo) — APC → Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC)

Gbefwi Gaza (Nasarawa) — Social Democratic Party (SDP) → Labour Party (LP)

The defections reflect ongoing political repositioning within the National Assembly, with lawmakers shifting party affiliations ahead of future political alignments.

The most notable move was that of Kingsley Chinda, who stepped down as Minority Leader following his defection to the APC.
