AS NUC RECEIVES INVESTIGATIVE REPORT ON MISUSE/ABUSE OF CONFERMENT OF HONORARY DOCTORATE DEGREES IN NIGERIAN UNIVERSITIES 

The Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission (NUC), Prof. Abdullahi Yusuf Ribadu, receives the report of the investigation into the award and public misuse of honorary doctorate degrees by recipients across the country.

The report, submitted by a special committee set up by the Commission, follows months of inquiries into the rising trend of indiscriminate conferment of honorary degrees by some institutions, as well as cases where honourees publicly prefix “Dr” to their names without earning a PhD from recognized university for self-promotion or political gains.
