The Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre (NPF–NCCC) has concluded a one-day Cybercrime Awareness Campaign in Abuja, reaffirming its commitment to promoting cybersecurity education and strengthening Nigeria’s digital resilience.
The campaign drew over 3,000 participants from schools, government and private institutions, digital platforms, and various agencies, aiming to educate Nigerians on online safety and encourage secure digital practices.
The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, represented by the Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), DIG Sadiq Abubakar, reiterated the Force’s dedication to ensuring a safer and more secure digital environment for all citizens.
In his remarks, the Director of NPF–NCCC, CP Uche Ifeanyi Henry, commended partners and stakeholders for their continued collaboration and support. He stressed the importance of collective national action in tackling cybercrime, stating that “today’s digital era demands that all Nigerians are not just users but also guardians of their own cybersecurity.”
He further noted that the campaign aligns with the Centre’s mandate to make citizens more aware and resilient to online threats. “We will continue to build on this foundation by scaling up cyber education, improving reporting mechanisms, and strengthening our enforcement capacity,” he added.
The event featured an awareness walk, distribution of educational materials, and a musical performance that reinforced the campaign’s theme — encouraging citizens to “Stay Smart, Stay Safe” online.
The success of the campaign highlights the Nigeria Police Force’s ongoing commitment to protecting the country’s digital space and empowering Nigerians with the knowledge to navigate the internet safely and responsibly.
