A Nigerian civic advocacy group, NEFGAD, has dragged the Federal Government to the ECOWAS Court, alleging that sections of the country’s newly gazetted tax legislation were altered after they had already been passed by the National Assembly and signed by President Bola Tinubu.
Filed under suit number ECW/CCJ/APP/10/26, the group is asking the regional court to review the legislative process, void the disputed provisions, and halt enforcement of the contested laws.

It also seeks compensation for Nigerians who may have paid taxes or penalties under the allegedly altered rules, warning that any post-assent modification threatens transparency, investor confidence, and the rule of law in Nigeria.
