The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has inaugurated 30 solar-powered streetlights, an industrial borehole, and a 35,000-litre water storage system in Anipupo Community, Odeda Local Government Area of Ogun State.
The special intervention was dedicated in honour of Air Vice Marshal Abidemi Timothy Marquis, showing NAF’s commitment to enhancing Civil-Military Relations and improving local livelihoods.
Ibikunle Daramola who represented the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Hasan Bala Abubakar, emphasised the initiative’s role in NAF’s non-kinetic operations, fostering trust and development.
This was contained in a statement on NAF’s X handle, on Wednesday, August 27.
The statement reads: “The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has brought renewed hope to Anipupo Community in Odeda Local Government Area of Ogun State with the commissioning of 30 solar-powered streetlights, an industrial borehole, and a 35,000-litre water storage system.
“The Special Intervention/Quick Impact Project, inaugurated on 26 August 2025 in honour of Air Vice Marshal Abidemi Timothy Marquis, reflects NAF’s commitment to strengthening Civil-Military Relations (CMR) while improving livelihoods and fostering trust with local communities.
“Representing the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar, the Chief of Civil-Military Relations, AVM Ibikunle Daramola, described the initiative as a demonstration of NAF’s resolve to touch lives beyond its combat role. ‘Projects like this resonate deeply with our non-kinetic operations.

” ‘By providing clean water and lighting up the community, we are not only improving livelihoods but also reinforcing the bond of trust between the Nigerian Air Force and the people we serve,’ he noted.
“In appreciation, AVM Abidemi Timothy Marquis urged stakeholders to safeguard the project as ‘a seed that must grow into lasting development.’
“The Special Guest of Honour, Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, represented by the Commissioner for Environment, Mr Ola Oresanya, commended the NAF for what he described as ‘a shining example of partnership that transforms lives.’
“He applauded the CAS for extending the initiative to Anipupo in honour of AVM Marquis, stressing that the intervention aligns with Ogun State’s grassroots development agenda.
“The Governor further urged residents to use the facilities responsibly and support security agencies in safeguarding peace, while acknowledging NAF’s growing role in national development beyond its core defence responsibilities.”
