
In another impactful stride towards poverty alleviation and improving livelihoods for vulnerable residents, the Lagos State Government has disbursed 275 cheques as financial support to beneficiaries under the ongoing Sanwo-Olu Listens Social Intervention Programme.

Speaking at the event, held recently at the Office of Political, Legislative and Civic Engagement, Secretariat, Alausa. Ikeja, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Political, Legislative and Civic Engagement, Dr. Afolabi Abiodun Tajudeen said the presentation marks a continued commitment to the holistic approach of delivering impactful social welfare interventions across the state by the Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu-led Administration, especially to vulnerable residents of Lagos.
He emphasised that since the inception of this Administration, the ‘Sanwo-Olu Listens’ Financial Assistance Programme has continued to deliver measurable impact, and with each phase, he reiterates the State Government’s resolve to ensure that no resident is left behind.
“Reiterating the benefit of registering with the Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA) to access the ILERA-EKO health insurance, the Special Adviser said that the scheme provides residents with affordable, quality healthcare services and financial protection against unexpected medical expenses, thereby promoting a healthier and more productive population”, he added.
He also informed the beneficiaries that with as little as ₦15,000 annually, residents can gain access to a wide range of medical services, including consultations, treatments, emergency care, maternal and child health services, and prescribed medications at accredited public and private hospitals across the state. He, therefore, urged all the beneficiaries to take advantage of the ILERA-EKO plan to safeguard their health and that of their families.
Also speaking at the event, the Permanent Secretary of the Office of Political, Legislative and Civic Engagement, Engr. Sholabomi Shasore, while stressing the importance of the programmes, said that good governance is achieved when citizens make demands and receive an appropriate response. She appealed to the beneficiaries to make the most of the opportunity.
Recall that the Lagos State Government had initially disbursed 200 cheques in June and later 152 cheques on the 1st of July as financial support to beneficiaries of the Sanwo-Olu Listens programme, bringing the number of beneficiaries to a total of 627 within the the last two months and the amount range from N300,000 to N1.5 million which is expected to take care of their challenges, health, accommodation, businesses and education needs.
