The Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Chief Samuel Ogbuku, PhD, has stated that the Commission will continue to intervene in critical infrastructure to ease the challenges faced by people in the Niger Delta region.

This was made this known by the Managing Director during the inspection of the Akamkpa Road alongside members of the National Assembly Committee on NDDC in Akamkpa Local Government Area of Cross River State.

 

The 24.5-kilometre road, spanning sections of Calabar–Odukpani–Ikom and Ogoja, links the Niger Delta region to Benue State.

 

Chief Ogbuku added that the project was initiated to address the difficulties experienced by road users.

The Chairman of the Senate Committee on NDDC, Senator Asuquo Ekpeyong, commended the NDDC for its intervention and the progress of work so far.

 

The project, which is about sixty per cent completed, is expected to significantly reduce travel time upon completion.

 

Thereafter, the delegation paid a courtesy visit to the Governor of Cross River State, His Excellency, Bassey Otu, who commended the NDDC for coming to the aid of the people of Cross River State and providing much-needed infrastructure for the state to thrive.
