The Ondo State Government has directed security agencies to step up operations against kidnapping syndicates following recent incidents in parts of the state.
In a statement, the government said preliminary investigations suggest that some of the crimes involved local collaborators. It expressed concern over attempts by criminal elements to portray the state as unsafe and warned that those responsible would face lawful consequences.

Security agencies have been instructed to heighten surveillance, apprehend suspects and ensure thorough investigations leading to prosecution where necessary.
The government noted that it has strengthened the state’s security framework through the provision of operational vehicles and logistics support, the construction of a Crime Control Centre for the Ondo State Security Network Agency, and the recruitment of 500 personnel to enhance intelligence and rapid response capacity.

Traditional rulers were urged to monitor activities within their domains and report suspicious movements, while residents were encouraged to cooperate with security agencies.
The state government reaffirmed that the protection of lives and property remains its top priority.
