Following the collapse of the National grid that resulted in power outage nationwide, the Nigerian Independent system Operator NISO says system restoration has commenced with electricity supply already restored to Abuja, Osogbo, Benin, Onitsha and parts of Lagos as well as Niger states.

A statement by the NISO assures that restoration efforts are ongoing progressively in other parts of the country.
NISO preliminary reports attribute the recent system collapse to simultaneous tripping of multiple 330KV transmission lines, alongside the disconnection of some grid connected generating units.
