The Federal Government commissioned the CCTV Monitoring and Viewing Centre at the Second Niger Bridge corridor to enhance security and traffic management on this strategic route.
Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi, confirmed the bridge project’s completion under President Tinubu, with the 17.5 km Asaba bypass reinforced with concrete, solar lighting, and CCTV infrastructure.
The monitoring centre relocates armed personnel to secured camps, ensuring response times under five minutes, and will be operated by the police with federal patrol vans and a surveillance boat.

N15 billion has been approved for urgent repairs on the old Niger Bridge corridor, upgraded from asphalt to reinforced concrete, aligning with the administration’s 100-year road durability vision.
Sand mining within 10 km of all bridges is now banned nationwide, highlighting the G’s commitment to infrastructure protection, security, and sustainable development
