FC Barcelona have announced another delay in their return to the renovated Spotify Camp Nou, confirming that home matches will continue at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys in Montjuïc.

The delay stems from pending approvals for the Phase 1B occupancy license, which would expand capacity to 45,000 spectators.

The club is still operating under Phase 1A, allowing only 27,000 fans, though it expects approval for that phase soon.

Economic factors also influenced the decision. Matches at Montjuïc currently generate more revenue than those possible under Camp Nou’s limited capacity.

The club wants to ensure all operational tests are completed and safety standards met before reopening.

The Phase 1B license, covering the Main Stand, Goal, and Lateral stands, is essential for meeting UEFA requirements and accommodating a larger portion of the stadium’s eventual 99,000 capacity.

To manage attendance during the transition, Barcelona have introduced the 2025/26 Season Pass, giving members access to all remaining official men’s first-team matches in LaLiga, Copa del Rey, and the UEFA Champions League—whether played at Montjuïc or Camp Nou once it reopens.

The club continues to coordinate with the Barcelona City Council to secure final permits and conduct the required inspections in the coming days.

While a mid-season return to Camp Nou was initially expected, licensing delays and financial considerations have led to the extended stay at Montjuïc. Fans are encouraged to follow official club channels for updates on reopening plans and ticket information.
