Reports has shown that, Senator Ayogu Eze, who served as the National Assembly representative for the Enugu North Senatorial District, has been confirmed dead after a lengthy illness, Eze, a former Senate spokesperson, died at an Abuja hospital.
The late senator, according to a source, was sick and unable to attend his child’s wedding, which took place in Lagos State earlier this year.
Eze, who was born on November 23, 1958, was chosen to serve as a senator representing the country’s Enugu North Senatorial District in Enugu State. He assumed office on June 5, 2007.
From 2007 to 2015, Eze was a member of the National Assembly. He served as a member of the Committee for the Drafting and Amendment of the Constitution, which drafted substantial amendments to Nigeria’s 1999 constitution.
In 2011, after being re-elected to the Senate, Eze took up the role of chairman of the Committee on Works. Additionally, he was a member of the Federal Character & Inter-Government Affairs, Marine Transport, National Planning, and Police Affairs committees.
Before switching parties and running for governor of Enugu State with the All Progressives Congress (APC), he was a founding member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
