The Federal Capital Territory Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, decorated 97 officers recently promoted.
Of the 97 newly decorated officers, five were promoted to the post of Deputy Corps Commandant and 25 to the position of Assistant Corp Commandant.
Speaking at the event, the FCT Commandant, Dr Peter Maigari, charged the officers to do more to protect critical assets and the citizens.
He said, “Today, in the FCT Command, I have over a 100 people promoted. There are criteria set by the board and by civil service rule, where officers are adjudged. They say to whom much is given, much is expected.
“And so, what they should understand now is that more is expected of them, and they should do more for the Nigerian state. You see what we are facing today in this nation as far as insecurity is concerned. You know, we as part of internal security agencies, will make sure that they work to make sure that this nation is rid of evil”.
He advised other officers who were yet to be promoted to continue working hard and wait for their time.
“I want to sincerely thank God for today. Some of these officers have stayed close to 10 years without promotions, and with the current administration of our leader, the Commandant-General, Dr Ahmed Audi, these people were promoted. While celebrating with you, I want to equally advise those of you who are yet to get your own, that God’s time is the best, and wait for it, it will surely come.”
