The Governor made the statement on Thursday in his goodwill message at the investiture ceremony of 14 Surveyors elevated to the Fellow cadre. He also promised his administration’s continuous collaboration with the NIS to further achieve the THEMES Plus developmental agenda.

The Governor, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Barr. ‘Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin, said: “The collaboration between the government and the Nigerian Institution of Surveyors has been instrumental in advancing our society through the THEMES Plus agenda that is designed to transform Lagos State into a modern and sustainable metropolis. The M in the THEMES Plus Developmental Agenda represents our intentional steps, focus and efforts towards making Lagos A Megacity with A Mega Economy”.

Sanwo-Olu disclosed that his government carried out various survey works including Geodetic Control, Airborne Global Position System (ABGPS) Aerial Photography, production of Digital Terrain Models, Digital Mapping and updated Geographical Information Systems (GIS) Database (Spatial Data Infrastructure). The introduction of Lidar Images, according to him, allowed the officials to know what is under the grounds, including pipes and cables.

He commended the Chairman of the Board, Surveyor (Dr.) Olusola Atilola and members of the Board of Fellows of the Nigerian Institution of Surveyors for a job well done.

The President of NIS, Surv. (Dr.) Mathew Olomolatan said the investiture was not just a celebration but a recognition of exceptional contributions and unwavering commitment of members to the profession. He urged the new fellows to imbibe the virtues of integrity, professionalism and exemplary conduct.

The Chairman, Board of Fellows, Surv. (Dr.) Olusola Atilola, in his remarks, encouraged the Fellows to rededicate themselves to the declaration made on admission as members, noting that their status must reflect in their private and public conduct.

The Guest Speaker/Member, House of Representatives, Hon. Kalejaiye Adeboye Paul, who spoke on the “Dynamics of Leadership and Dilemma of Followership”, said both responsibilities exist for a purpose in addition to complimenting each other.

He, therefore, urged the leaders to lead well with love and empathy while the followers must serve diligently.

The highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of a plaque to Mr. Governor and the decoration of the Fellows with Medallions and Certificates.
