Lagos Health Commissioner, Prof. Akin Abayomi has commended the Chief of Staff to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila for facilitating the upgrade and reconstruction of the popular Femi Gbajabiamila clinic in Surulere to an ultramodern multi-floor 60-bed Femi Gbajabiamila General Hospital with advanced and specialist care facilities.

Speaking after an inspection tour of the newly completed multi-floor 60-bed hospital scheduled to be commissioned soon, Prof. Akin Abayomi expressed immense satisfaction with the architectural design as well as a fit-for-purpose model carried by the project manager, expressing optimism about the contribution of the facility to the well-being of the Lagos populace.

 

The Commissioner lauded the ultramodern health infrastructure, highlighting its diverse practical facets aimed at catering to the community’s health needs. Emphasising the critical shortage of bed space in Lagos for its burgeoning population, Prof. Abayomi stressed the significance of adding 60 beds to the public health facilities in the area.

Enumerating the hospital’s state-of-the-art features including radiology, a large laboratory, paediatric, physiotherapy, surgical, and X-ray facilities, Prof. Abayomi expressed confidence in its potential to substantially enhance the well-being of the constituency’s residents.

 

While acknowledging existing hospitals in the vicinity, such as Randle General Hospital, Surulere, and the Maternal and Child Centre, Gbaja, Surulere, the Health Commissioner highlighted the new hospital’s unique contributions to

healthcare services in Surulere Local Government.

Expressing enthusiasm about integrating the facility into Lagos’ roster of General Hospitals, Prof. Abayomi commended the quality and construction of the hospital, anticipating a positive reception from both the Governor Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu and the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, regarding this significant addition to public health facilities.

 

The Commissioner extended profound gratitude to Rt. Hon Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to the President, acknowledges his immense contribution and foresight in facilitating the establishment of this hospital. He assured that the facility would be optimally utilised for the benefit of all Lagosians.

 

The unveiling of the Multi-floor 60-bed Femi Gbajabiamila General Hospital stands as a milestone in enhancing healthcare infrastructure, promising improved access and quality healthcare services for the people of Surulere.

 

 

The Commissioner was accompanied on the inspection tour of the facility by the Permanent Secretary, Health Service (HSC) Commission, Dr. Ademuyiwa Eniayewun; the Medical Director Randle General Hospital, Surulere, Dr. Olumide Sojinrin; Director, Projects, Lagos State Ministry of Health, Dr. Oduwole and Director Clinical Service and Training, HSC, Dr. Olawale Adegbite.
