The General Manager of the Institute, Mrs Afusat Tiamiyu stated this while featuring on a radio programme, “Bo Se Nlo” on Traffic Radio 96.1 FM where she also disclosed that the Institute is set to host the year 2023 Drivers’ Recognition and Award Ceremony.

According to Tiamiyu, “The Institute is conscious of the importance of drivers in society and believes in recognising and rewarding drivers who have lived up to expectations by contributing positively to the economic growth of our dear state. However, as a good driver, you must always take care of your health. Take good care of the vehicle you are driving and also have mastery of the roads you are plying.”

She also noted that learning is a continuous process, hence drivers must always update their driving skills by ensuring regular and yearly attendance at the Institute. The LASDRI boss noted that part of the mandate of the Institute is to train and retrain drivers for safety and urged employers to always ensure that drivers are competent before hiring.

While stressing that eye tests and proper assessments must be carried out at the Institute periodically, Tiamiyu averred that in a bid to reach out to every professional driver in the State, LASDRI’s Centres and Annexes have been increased from five to 13 Centres and Annexes across the state.

She also noted that there are many benefits to be derived from attending the Institute as it has been fully equipped with many modern training gadgets, well packaged and updated curriculum.

The General Manager therefore urged Vehicle Owners to desist from training relatives on “how to drive” but ensure they attend competent driving schools to prevent accidents on our roads.
