Barely two years after the inception of Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo’s government, more strides have continued to be recorded in the security sector. This is evidently heartwarming as a comparative analysis would reveal that security of life and property has continued to improve over time.

One of such strides was the dislodgement of assailants and insurgents terrorising most parts of the state by a Joint Security Task force in the state on Friday, 6th October, 2023.

A police-led Forward Operating Base (FOB), comprising the military and paramilitary operations based in Aguata Council area of the state, assisted by the Police Rapid Response Squad, Awkuzu, stormed the insurgents’ den at Ogbunka, Orumba South Local Government Area of the State and successfully carried out a security operation.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Command, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu revealed through a statement that three abducted persons, including a Reverend Father who were abducted this month and held hostage in the den, were rescued unhurt during the operation.

According to the statement, three suspects were arrested, while nine vehicles snatched at gunpoint as well as three pump actions guns were recovered from the scene.

He further stated that stolen camouflage uniform, Biafra flag, several handset, flash drives and SIM cards were also recovered. These items, he revealed would help make for proper investigation and prosecution.

The Police PRO, Ikenga continued that the criminal gang had been fingered as responsible for the spate of kidnaps in Orumba North and South, including parts of Aguata Council Areas.

This recorded success led by the state Commissioner of Police, CP Aderemi Adeoye, is just one out of the many successful operations, supported by the security architecture built by the present administration of Governor Soludo; with more support systems in sight.
