The Lagos State Head of Service, Mr. Hakeem Muri-Okunola has enjoined the body of permanent secretaries, administrative and political heads of Ministries, Departments and Agencies to support the fellows of the Lateef Jakande Leadership Academy as they embark on the ministerial placement which is a core aspect of the fellowship programme.

A release signed by the Head of Service said the Fellowship offers a one-year Non-Partisan and Meritocratic Residential Programme that gives an opportunity for young Nigerians to acquire first-hand experience in the process of Governance in the Public Service by shadowing Public Sector Leaders and thus get exposed to both Local and International Training and Development.

According to him, the Fellows are to act in the capacity of Special Assistants to the Governor during the Ministerial Placements which are also aimed at providing opportunities for Fellows to engage in roundtable discussions with Commissioners, Permanent Secretaries and Heads of Agencies,  provide the Fellows with practical work experience in a specific field in the Public Service, help the Fellows develop new skills, build Professional Networks and gain insights in the day-to-day operations of the Public Service.

He added the Ministerial placements are designed to ultimately allow the Fellows to introduce new ideas in creativity/innovation into the State Public Service.

The Lateef Jakande Leadership Academy is an initiative of the Lagos State Government under the guidance of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu in honour of the leadership values of the first Civilian Governor of Lagos State – Alhaji Lateef Kayode Jakande.

The Academy bears eloquent testimony to the resolve of Mr. Governor to engage the youths and harness their professional competence and leadership potential as stated in the THEMES Plus agenda of the current administration.
