As part of efforts to improve on public hygiene and Sanitation, the Rotary Club of Port Harcourt Rebisi Kingdom has donated some sanitation tools to the Fruit Garden Market Kaduna Street.
President of the Rotary Club of Port Harcourt Rebisi Kingdom Kris Ugochukwu-Oguzie while handing over the tools to the market management explained that the initiative aims to raise awareness about the importance of sanitation, and hygiene education for a healthy environment and a productive life.
“Clean water and Sanitation is a human right, that’s why Rotary International laid emphasis on it as one of it areas of focus. So as Rotarians we’re celebrating our commitment to create healthier communities by supplying sanitation facilities to prevent the spread of infectious diseases. When people, especially have access to clean water, sanitation, and hygiene, they lead healthier and more successful lives.”
The Rotarian President Kris Ugochukwu-Oguzie while also donating over one hundred market aprons to the traders in the market said the aprons will help the traders to safe guide their money properly and make them appear neat and professional.
On his part, the Superintendent of the Fruits Garden Market Kaduna Street, Tony Ogbonna while receiving the sanitation tools donated by the Rotary Club of Rebisi Kingdom said the tools will enhance sanitation activities in the market and its environs.
He said the gesture is coming at the right time when the market needed such assistance.
“We thank the club for this gesture, it is coming at the right time we needed it. These tools, rakes, shovels, sweeping and web cleaning brooms, some big waste bins and baskets, will enhance cleaning during our market sanitation days. We are also happy that members of the club came to join us for our sanitation day and helped control traffic around the busy market area.”
