The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) began its commemoration of the SGBV Awareness Month with an Advocacy walk tagged: “Turn Alausa Purple”, held within the Secretariat and aimed at sensitising the populace and curbing all forms of domestic and sexual violence in the State.
The Executive Secretary of DSVA, Mrs. Lola Vivour-Adeniyi led the Advocacy Sensitization Campaign team WALK to all the Ministries and Parastatals located within the Secretariat sensitising Civil Servants on the zero tolerance stance of the State Government and the need for collective efforts to end the menace of sexual and gender-based violence in Lagos.
She disclosed that the Agency has received over 5,000 reports of sexual and gender-based violence cases within and outside the State saying, “We are extremely grateful to Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu and his deputy, Dr. Olufemi Hamzat for their unrelenting support and care for survivors in the State and ensuring that SGBV cases are put on the front burner.
We are also grateful to the Head of Service, Mr. Hakeem Muri-Okunola for continually being our distinguished partner in amplifying the call to kick SGBV out of Lagos.
This year’s Sexual and Gender-Based Violence Awareness Month Advocacy is themed: “SGBV? NOT IN MY LAGOS”.
