Foremost media pressure group in Delta State, Coalition for Media Politics and Governance, CMPG, of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has thrown it’s weight behind the group Chairman, Olorogun Barr Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, for rejecting EA Communications appointment offered by the state governor, saying that he deserve a better appointment in Oborevwori’s administration.
The group in a statement signed by Delta North Deputy Chairman, Engr Emmanuel Chuks Momah, Delta South Deputy Chairman, Prince Toju Robinson Ekengbuda and State Publicity Secretary, Tagbarha Onajite Malcolm, appealed to the State Governor, Elder Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, to flash his mind back to Latimore’s enviable performance before party primary, during and after the governorship election, wherein he doggedly, tenaciously and professionally led the CMPG team and the Sherrified Delta Media group in the state, to wade off media attacks and damaging media propaganda against the reputation and political career by his diehard traducers.
CMPG noted that Latimore, it was, who had sleepless nights, working round the clock with his media partners to withstand media firepower of detractors and vigorously silenced the radical media team of the major opposition party in the state, the All Progressives Congress, APC, as well as the mafia media team of his major diehard opponent, Olorogun David Edevbie, who were hell bent on terminating Oborevwori’s political career and governorship ambition through multifaceted character assassination strategies via the mass media.
The group said it will be a deliberate oversight and grave injustice on the part of constituted authority towards Latimore, who was and still committed, loyal and hardworking in the discharge of his assigned responsibilities for the state and party, PDP, if made to serve as EA Communications for another four years without promotion, making a total of ten years career stagnancy.
CMPG noted that Latimore served as EA Communications to governor Okowa for six years without promotion, and in the same token was totally committed to Oborevwori’s governorship ambition, especially during the battle for Osadebey House Asaba, in the just concluded governorship election in Delta State, wherein the governor won in a landslide victory, saying that it ought to be pay back time for Latimore by governor Oborevwori via juice appointment.
“We know governor Oborevwori to be a man of good conscience, and he promised equity and justice during his campaign round the state, prior to governorship election.
“It will be unjust to willfully and deliberately sweep the huge sacrifices made by Latimore and CMPG under the carpet. Adequate reward for hardwork and loyalty is one of the best ways to display good conscience and visionary leadership.
“The appointment offer made to Latimore by the governor does not reveal that he (Oborevwori) appreciated the huge sacrifices and risk taken by Latimore for his sake during the just concluded governorship election.
“It is therefore most ideal for the governor to do the needful by appointing him either as Commissioner, or at least, Special Adviser or any other higher appointment, going forward.
“Dr Latimore is a disciplined, responsible and creative team leader, qualified academically, very kind and generous, he’s competent, experienced and long over due for higher appointment, and not to serve again as EA Communications for the third dispensation.
“We humbly and respectfully wish to use this medium to appeal to governor Oborevwori to review his decision and offer Latimore a better appointment that truly portrays his enviable status, loyalty and dedication to duty, and as a seasoned communication Strategist.
“He’s loyalty to our great party, PDP, governor Oborevwori and Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, CON, as reflected in the discharge of his assigned responsibilities in the media space” the statement added.
