Result of the Delta State governorship election was procured with over N106 billion, the standard bearer of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Olorogun Barr. Kenneth Gbagi, FNIM OON, has told the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Asaba, the State capital.
The former Minister of State for Education, told the tribunal that the result declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), which is the 1st Respondent in his petition, declaring the candidate of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), Sheriff Oborevwori winner of the March 18th election, does not reflect the wishes and will of the people of the State.
He dropped the shocking revelation when he was cross examined by counsels to the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th Respondents.
The renowned Criminologist, told the tribunal that the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS), Machine, accredited less than what INEC declared as final result for the election.
He told the tribunal that with the outcome of the presidential elections conducted on 25th February, 2023, within 14 days, the election wouldn’t have turned around.
“The BVAS Machine accredited less than the number that was declared by INEC”, he said.
Asked if he was aware that the 3rd Respondent won and was declared winner of the governorship election conducted by the 1st Respondent having satisfied the constitutional requirements and scored majority of lawful votes, Gbagi said: “that is not correct. That result today, is procured with over a N106 billion and it is clear that, that result is procured.
“My Lords, whatever was declared by the 1st Respondent does not represent the election in Delta State and even the deaf and dumb will confirm and testify to that effect.
“The votes you have before you my Lords, are allocated votes. It is not the votes representing the will of the people of Delta State.
“If my Lordships will be mindful of the fact from the presidential election where the entire State scored zero in the presidential election, within 14 days, the election wouldn’t have turned around. Those electoral votes were allocated.
“The results as produced by this BVAS and the documents local government by local government, the disparity and where these fake results came from, are there contained and I stand by them.
“I rely on the BVAS report and Ward by ward to local government to local government and the incursions therein that what was declared is contrary to what the people have sought for”.
He told the tribunal that “giving my responsibilities in this country, as having taught virtually 80 to 90 percent of everybody, I know Delta State pays no less up to half a billion to keep the EFCC, the ICPC, from prosecuting them and they report there every month.
“I have records of the State as to every penny and where it has gone to and if we are referring to electoral corruption, the facts are notoriously before us that we have been corrupted and if you want, we will make further proofs to this tribunal.
“We know for facts in this state of corrupt practices and inducement of our electoral processes”, he stressed.
