In the ever-changing landscape of politics, it is crucial to have leaders who genuinely care about the welfare of the people. As a member of the PDP Campaign Council and a socio-political activist, I am here to address the concerns of Delta State’s youth and shed light on the visionary plans of our esteemed leader, His Excellency Rt. Hon. Elder Sheriff F.O. Oborevwori.
Just as there are three entities in heaven — God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit — leaders are indispensable in every facet of society, be it business, politics, religion, or community organizations. Comrade Victor Ojei have been fortunate to have leaders like Mr. Osita Philips, Senior Comrade Bonny Akaeze, Femi Falana (SAN), Olisa Agbakoba (SAN), Dr. Segun Oshoba, and the Late Bala Usman as mentors in the Civil Societies Community. However, in the realm of socio-politics my leaders are His Excellency Sen. Dr. Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa, His Excellency Rt. Hon. Elder Sheriff F.O. Oborevwori, Distinguish Senator Prince Ned Nwoko, and Hon. Ben Igbakpa (Former House of Representative Member) who brought me on board to be a member of PDP as an Activist who always yearned for a Positive Social Change for his people on a daily basis for many years now.
As a vocal Activist, it is my duty to hold our Leaders accountable and point out any lapses or issues that need their attention despite many might not like the style of Wong Box but it has always been all about the greater good for humanity and for our people. The recently published Exco Members list of Commissioner nominees, for example, raised eyebrows among Deltans, who perceived it as not being representative of the people’s interests. However, it is essential to recognize that leaders like Senator James Manager, Ex-Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan, Great Ovedje Ogboru, Chief Agofure, and others maintained the ranks of the PDP, a significant achievement for His Excellency Sheriff Oborevwori and His Excellency Okowa, during and after the 2023 Gubernatorial elections.
To further enhance governance in Delta State, We suggest the establishment of new MDAs (Ministries, Departments, and Agencies). These could include the Directorate of Civil Societies, Directorate of Social Services, Directorate of Welfare, Directorate of Mental Health, and Directorate of Food Banks etc. Such additions would offer platforms for other stakeholders who played pivotal roles for the PDP, providing compensation for their dedication. His Excellency Rt. Hon. Elder Sheriff F.O. Oborevwori should take advantage of his fiat power to establish these additional MDAs (Ministries, Departments, and Agencies).
In considering appointments, it is crucial to prioritize meritocracy. The allocation of office positions for these new MDAs should be reserved for common individuals who demonstrated extraordinary commitment to the PDP. This approach ensures fairness and prevents any sense of disaffection within the party.
Moreover, criticisms regarding an Edo State indigene receiving a Commissioner nomination need to be addressed. It is essential to recall that this individual, has been serving diligently as a Special Assistant, held many positions in Delta State Government and even contested for the Delta State House of Assembly. Criticizing his nomination on the grounds of not being from Delta State would be hypocritical and biased. Jerry Ehiwario got lucky because the person that would have been nominated to take the slot was above the age range of the youth, so the hands of the PDP Leaders with the mandate to scout for these nominations had to fall on Jerry Ehiwario, who was a former Special Assistant to His Excellency Okowa. In fact, the youth had clamored for youth representatives in the new Government of His Excellency Rt. Hon. Elder Sheriff F.O. Oborevwori, and Jerry Ehiwario’s selection also aligned with this demand.
As Comrade Victor Ojei (Wong Box) I am committed to the PDP’s growth and success, but I also recognize my duty of care in pointing out shortcomings and gaps. My intentions are rooted in the greater good and the advancement of Delta State. Constructive criticism and vigilance ensure that our leaders maintain their focus on the people’s welfare and address any issues that arise along the way.
In conclusion, I urge Delta State’s youth to remain calm and trust in the vision of His Excellency Rt. Hon. Elder Sheriff F.O. Oborevwori. Our leaders have proven their dedication to the betterment of the state, and with our continued support and constructive engagement, we can work together to achieve a brighter future for all Deltans. Let us remember that united, we stand, and together, we shall overcome any challenges that come our way.
