Election so far has come and gone. Just like in every other contest, there will always be a winner and a loser. Using the term “loser” here is not in derogatory to the personality or party that lost the governorship election, but a sher reality that stares at the face of everyone.

Cross River State has been blessed with a new Governor. No doubt, there are cases of litigation in the election tribunal. But truth be told, Engr Sandy Onor is actually wasting his time in the tribunal; probably he was ill advised by clout chasers who wants to make a fortune from his supposed chase for imaginary “justice”.

We all participated in the just concluded Governorship Election in Cross River State. I supported Sen Prince Bassey Otu because I have my conviction that he is the best man for the job and also in regards to social justice (the issue of zoning back south) he stands credible enough to paddle the affairs of Cross River State. Fortunately, he is currently the governor of Cross River State; courtesy of the good people of Cross River State who voted for him.

Comrade Chris Edadi, I understand that you also supported your own candidate, in the person of Engr Sandy Onor. It’s applaudable, cause a man who can’t stand for something will fall for anything. It’s quite obvious that your candidate did not meet up with the credibility even though he is competent (Credibility in the sense that he is not from the Cross River South). If you will allow your conscience to guide you, you will surely come to terms with reality that he never won the election, his pursuing the case at the tribunal is a mere clout chasing or so to say, “actually wasting his time” because the election in Cross River State was near fairness by approximation (permit me to say that there is no place in the world that election is absolutely fair).

It is a well known fact that Engr Sandy Onor lost even in his own polling unit. The facts are there for you to verify. If his own people rejected him at the polls, what on earth made you think the whole Cross River State will accept him. I don’t know why you are taking this supposed PDP defeat more personal than the “candidate” who was defeated.

Nevertheless, the judiciary are lead by men of high intellectual echelons. It’s not a place where emotions prevail over logic. Facts and figures will be presented and judgements will be issued. With the evidence so far, Engr Sandy Onor is not going to smell the government seat any moment from now. He might be lucky, may be after eight 8 years of Sen Prince Bassey Otu’s administration. Never can tell!

Before I conclude, I wish to invite you to keep partisan politics aside now that election is over, and seek ways to support the incumbent government to make Cross River State a better place. As the saying goes, there is enough space in the sky to accommodate all the birds. Just like one of your PDP statesman (Nelson Wike) is doing at the national level, even though Nelson Wikes party lost at the center, but he has thrown his weight behind His Excellency, Sen Bola Ahmed Tiunbu, administration.

All I can say to you is a simple advice, learn from the best, if you wish to be the best.

May Cross River State Succeed.

HON. SEN. PST BILL FRANCIS BILL SPOKESPERSON TO SEN GOV PRINCE BASSEY OTU
