The Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu has reiterated his administration’s commitment to invest massively in infrastructural development and renewal to complement other development springing up across the state. He stated this on Tuesday at the foundation laying stone of the Institute of Directors (IoD) Towers at Ikoyi.
The Governor, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, ‘Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin emphasised the need for all players in the built industry to avoid undermining established rules, processes and procedures so as to prevent incidents of collapsed buildings and needless loss of lives and properties as well as economic retrogression.
He commended the Institute of Directors Nigeria for observing the laws and guidelines before commencing construction of the 15-storey building, urging them to continue on the same path at every stage of the construction till the completion of the building.
She said, “Lagos State Government is proud to be associated with the vision and aspiration of IoD Nigeria as it celebrates 40 years of its founding. This edifice when completed would impact positively on promoting the culture of good corporate governance practices among Nigeria companies and the public sector towards achieving sustainable growth of the Nigerian economy”
He congratulated the President of IoD, members of the Governing Council, Management and Staff for their determination and commitment to delivering the 15-floor residential and commercial edifice.
Earlier, the President and Chairman of Governing Council of IoD, Dr. (Mrs.) Ije Jidenma said the Institute was established to promote excellent professionalism in the business communities.
She said the foundation laying ceremony was part of activities to mark the 40th years anniversary of the Institute themed “Celebrating 40 Years of Visionary Leadership and Corporate Governance.”
She appreciated Governor Sanwo-Olu, a Fellow of the Institute for his support and guidance on the need to meet all statutory requirements for the construction of the Tower.
The Governor, through the SSG, later laid the foundation stones for the commencement of the building which when completed would enhance the aesthetic of the area with 161 multi-level parking spaces, recreation suites and luxury apartments.
