Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo has solicited for partnership with the Anambra State Market Amalgamated Traders Association (ASMATA) in the development of the State
The Governor made the call during a meeting with Executives and Members of ASMATA held at Rojenny Tourist Village-Oba, Idemili South Local Council.
The Governor stressed the importance of collaborating, especially on generation of Internal Revenue.
He revealed that 99% of the state’s finances are in private hands and the remaining 0.02% are in the hands of Government.
“To make this vision a reality, we will all work together. Government cannot complete the task on its own; each and every one of you must play a part.”
In addition to cleaning and planning the market environment, Soludo stated, “We will start cleaning up all drainages as we are about to hire those who will sweep our streets.”
The Governor tasked them on maintaining the markets and asked them to report anyone building arbitrarily without permit.
“We’ll start designing contemporary markets with contemporary fire protection systems so that visitors from other states and other parts of the world can be proud of our marketplaces.” Governor Soludo further stressed
The Governor urged all of the ASMATA central Executives and women leaders, both elected and caretakers, to support APGA in the upcoming election.
Speaking earlier, the Chairman of ASMATA, Chief Humphrey Anuna recalled the good works of the Governor for the populace.
According to him, market vendors will gain the most from road construction the government of Prof Soludo has aggressively embarked on, adding that it will reduce traffic and facilitate the movement of goods. He Stated also that the market people were happy with the way the Governor was removing touts from the streets and expressed the confidence that in two months, touts would no longer exist in the state.
While assuring of their support, the ASMATA Chairman assured the Governor that the market people will cooperate with him to effectively implement his policies.
The Commissioner for Works, Engr. Ifeanyi Okomma, APGA Candidate, Ogbaru 1 Constituency, Anambra House of Assembly, Hon. Linus Ezenwamma, Ogbaru 1, Secretary ASMATA, Chief Ekpema Macaulay, Executives of ASMATA among others attended the meeting.
