The management of the Lagos State University has ignored the Directives of National University Commission (NUC) directives to shutdown all universities ahead of the upcoming election on 22nd February till 14th March, 2023 respectively so as to give the students the rightful opportunity to participate in the coming elections.
The LASU management who shun the NUC directives went ahead to declare that the 2022/2023 academic session will commence 13th February through the evening of 23rd February, 2023 before its four day break commences.
The university claims its contrary decision against the NUC directives is based on the decision taken by its Senate during the emergency meeting held on monday.
According to them, its decision on the university bulletin published by the Centre of information, press and public relations (CIPPR), titled, “Decision of Senate on Ministerial Directives on the Closure of Universities and Inter-university centres during the upcoming 2023 general election”.
