The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has asked religious leaders to join the campaign against drug abuse by including the message in their sermon. This, it said, would save millions of youths from being afflicted by the menace.

The chairman and chief executive officer of the agency, Brig.-Gen. Buba Marwa, gave the charge while playing host to a delegation of a religious group; Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah Wa Iqamatus Sunnah, in Abuja.

According to a statement by the agency’s director of media and advocacy, Femi Babafemi, the NDLEA boss expressed concern over the use of illicit drugs by some youths in the country.

He said, “I would like to seize this medium to appeal to our religious bodies, the two major faith and other faith-based organisations, to join this effort being coordinated by the NDLEA and ensure that anti-drug abuse messages feature constantly in their sermons and other evangelical activities.”
