The Lagos Water Corporation has blamed ageing infrastructures for the lack of supply of potable water to residents of the state, particularly those who reside in Otto community, Lagos Mainland.

According to a statement on Thursday, the Managing Director of LWC, Muminu Badmus, disclosed this during a recent visit by the management team of the corporation to Lagos Mainland and the palace of the newly-installed Oloto of Otto, Oba Abisoye Olupejobi, in Lagos.

Badmus said, “On completion of the ongoing rehabilitation of the 45 million gallons per day Iju Waterworks this month, potable water will be available to the community and other parts of the state.

“The state government has embarked on several projects to increase water production and distribution across the state. However, the problem of ageing infrastructures, among others, is affecting the efforts of the corporation in ensuring a constant supply of potable water to every home in the state.”

In his response, the monarch thanked the team for the visit and pledged the support of members of the community, especially as regards water vendors who disrupt access to potable water supply in the area.
