The Ondo State Security Network Agency, also known as Amotekun Corps, on Monday trained recruits in the state.
Part of the training involved an endurance trek which took place in Owo, in the Owo Local Government Area of the state.
The recruits turned up for the exercise putting on white vests and shorts.
Present during the exercise were the Senior Special Assistant to the Ondo State Governor on Security Matters, Jimoh Dojumo; and the Ondo State Amotekun Commander and Special Adviser to the Governor on Security Matters, Adetunji Adeleye, among others.
Meanwhile, a coalition of self-determination groups led by a United States of America-based self-determination movement, the United Indigenous People of African Foundation, has called on the governors in the southern and middle-belt of Nigeria to stop funding the police and the military.
The groups called on the governors in these regions to, instead, begin to use their money to arm Amotekun and other vigilante groups to secure the lives of their people.
This was contained in an electronic statement by Protem spokesman for the coalition, Mr Joseph Ekwo, and made available to our correspondent by Maxwell Adeleye, the media aide to Ilana Omo Oodu leader, Prof. Banji Akintoye.
“We are suggesting to the governors in the South and Middle-Belt of Nigeria to domesticate their resources and stop funding the civil defence, police and military Armed Forces that do not take instructions from them.
