An ally to the former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, and a former Commissioner for Energy and Natural Resources under Amaechi’s administration in Rivers, Dawari George, has dumped the All Progressives Congress.
George was a former member of the House of Representatives who represented the Asari-Toru and Akuku-Toru Constituency or Rivers State from 2011 to 2015.
His resignation from the APC was contained in a letter addressed to the party’s chairman in his area, Ward 1, in the Asari-Toru Local Government Area of the state and obtained by our correspondent in Port Harcourt.
While thanking the leadership and members of the party for their support, George was silent on his next political destination.
The letter partly read, “I wish to resign my membership of the All Progressive Congress.
“May I also thank the leadership of the party and all her members for the opportunity and support given to serve the state and the country in different capacities during my time in the party.
“I will always cherish the friendship and brotherhood which enforced our camaraderie in the party.
“Please accept the assurances of my best regards.”
Until his resignation, George was the Chairman of Peace and Reconciliation Committee of Rivers APC.
Our correspondent reports that George’s resignation is coming few days after an ally to Senator Magnus Abe and a former member of the state House of Assembly, Golden Chioma, also resigned from the party.
Like George, Chioma had yet to disclose his next political destination, though he had promised to do so in a few days.
