The police have failed to arrest popular singer, Habeeb Okikiola, aka Portable, four days after they threatened to declare him wanted.
Recall that the Ogun State Police Command had on Monday, June 20, 2022, threatened to declare the singer wanted after 48 hours if he failed to report himself for organising some youths to beat up his estranged friend, DJ Chicken.
However, rather than report himself to the police station, the controversial singer held a christening for his child and wedded his wife. On the same day, one of his aides was involved in an accident with the singer’s vehicle, which resulted in the death of a commercial motorcyclist.
When our correspondent contacted the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, on Friday, four days after Portable was asked to report himself at a police station, the PPRO said the singer had not reported at any police station as directed.
Oyeyemi stated that Portable had rather gone to Zone 2, Lagos, the supervisory unit of the Ogun and Lagos commands.
He said, “He has not reported at any police station in Ogun State. He went to Zone 2, and they are handling the case.”
But, when contacted, the PPRO of Zone 2, DSP Hauwa Idris-Adamu, disagreed with Oyeyemi, saying the offence was committed in Ogun State.
She said Portable was in Zone 2 for another issue, and not about the alleged assault case.
She said, “He came to Zone 2 to see an Assistant Inspector-General of Police for something different.
