The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), has received the Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal, at the State House in Abuja on Monday.

This comes days after bandits attacked some travelers heading for the southern part of the country from Sokoto State, leaving about 23 people dead.

Reacting, the President dispatched a delegation to Sokoto led by the National Security Adviser, Major General Babagana Munguno (Rtd) and made up of the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba; the Director-General of the Department of State Services, Yusuf Magaji Bichi; the Director-General, National Intelligence Agency, Ambassador Ahmed Rufa’i Abubakar and the Chief of Defence Intelligence, Major General Samuel Adebayo.

Receiving the delegation, Tambuwal explained that the security situation in the state was exacerbated by the influx of bandits and criminals displaced by the defective manoeuvres of security personnel deployed under Operation Hadarin Daji, to end their nefarious activities in neighbouring Zamfara State.

During his visit to President Buhari, Tambuwal was assured of the Federal Government’s commitment to the restoration of peace and security in the state.

This is as the President stated that the bandits will be smoked out and brought to justice as assured by security chiefs.

Buhari shared on Facebook, “Governor Aminu Tambuwal briefed me tonight on the security situation in the State. I assured him of the commitment and support of the Federal Government, towards the full restoration of peace and security.

“I have the full assurance of our security chiefs that these heartless bandits and criminals will be smoked out, wherever they might be, and brought to justice. We will not rest until this is achieved.

“May the souls of the victims Rest In Peace. Amen. My vow is that this tragic loss of lives will not be in vain.”
