The Lagos State Parking Authority (LASPA) has said that it will not hesitate to invoke the full wrath of the law on any one or group of individuals trying to obstruct its operations in the State.

The General Manager of LASPA, Mrs. Adebisi Adelabu, disclosed this in a statement issued today, noting with displeasure the unwarranted attacks on LASPA officials during a routine exercise to verify parking compliance by some staff and security personnel of Better Mart, Badore Road, Off Addo Road, Ajah and at Ashley Mall in Epe.

Describing the attacks as illegal and unacceptable, Adelabu stressed that the Parking Authority will stop at nothing to ensure that the individuals and organisations responsible for the attacks on its officers are brought to book.

She emphasised that it is a great offence to obstruct the activities of government officials on duty, stressing that it is even a greater offence to attack and beat up State officials carrying out their statutory assignments.

According to her, the incident represents a serious breach of protocol and an unlawful obstruction of government officials in the execution of their duties.

In her words, “LASPA strongly condemns any form of violence or intimidation directed at its personnel and reaffirms its commitment to lawful enforcement and public safety”.

She further noted that the State Parking Authority will not hesitate to prosecute any one or group of people responsible for the attacks on its officials during their statutory assignments.

”LASPA is resolute in the actualisation of its mandate to ensure strict compliance with the State Traffic Regulations and would not be intimidated by anyone”, she stated.
