The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has given its approval for the enhancement of the Oncology Centre at the University College Hospital (UCH) in Ibadan.

Professor Muhammad Ali Pate, the Coordinating Minister for Health and Social Welfare, announced this following the council meeting led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday at the Presidential Villa.
Professor Ali Pate stated that the approval is a significant aspect of a comprehensive strategy to transform cancer treatment and health infrastructure within the country. He emphasized that this represents another important achievement in the Tinubu administration’s proactive efforts to reform Nigeria’s health sector.
He pointed out that the updated UCH Oncology unit will be equipped with cutting-edge technology, such as linear accelerators and diagnostic systems designed for radiotherapy.
He stated that the recent inauguration of similar all-inclusive oncology centers in Katsina, Enugu, and Jos highlights the administration’s dedication to establishing world-class facilities within the country.
He said, “Cancer patients now have access to state-of-the-art treatment within Nigeria, unless they choose otherwise.
“This government, under the leadership of President Tinubu, is making significant investments so that our people no longer have to travel abroad for care that can be accessed here.”
