The Lagos State Primary Health Care Board (LSPHCB) has emphasised the urgent need to leverage the advanced technological infrastructure being deployed by the Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASRRA) to strengthen service delivery and improve access to quality healthcare for residents.

Speaking during a work visit to LASRRA’s headquarters in Ikeja, on Friday, the team lead and Director of Physical Health, Dr. Oladipupo Olamilekan Abudu highlighted the critical role of data integration in achieving the State’s health objectives under the THEMES Plus Agenda.

He stated that it is no longer sufficient to work in silos, stressing that integrating the Board’s systems with LASRRA’s robust residents’ database will empower LSPHCB with real-time data to make better decisions, deliver targeted interventions, and reach underserved communities more efficiently and effectively.

He also made it known that the Lagos State Government has digitalised 100 Health Care Centres out of over 300, which will be used as a pilot test. “The world is a global village to the extent that we need one another to achieve greatness”, he said.

According to him, LASRRA’s digital infrastructure, which includes a comprehensive residents’ database, biometric verification, and geolocation capabilities, offers a reliable platform that can revolutionise the way health services are planned and delivered at the primary level.

In his words, “If the Health Care Board is eventually onboard, this will bring numerous advantages such as Efficient Patient Identification, which would ensure that residents with LAG-ID cards can be uniquely identified at primary health facilities, ensuring accurate medical records and continuity of care”.

“It will improve Resource Allocation. Data-driven insights will enable equitable distribution of medical supplies, personnel, and outreach programs across Local Government Areas and Local Council Development Areas.

“Moreover, it will enhance Health Insurance Coverage whereby the integration will facilitate seamless enrollment and tracking for the Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA) under the “ILERA EKO” scheme”, he added..

Dr. Abudu reiterated that real-time monitoring and evaluation will not be underestimated, as automated tracking of health trends, vaccination uptake, maternal health, and disease outbreaks for faster government response can be achieved if this happens.

Responding to the LSPHCB team, the General Manager, LASRRA, Mrs. Bilikiss Adebiyi-Abiola, who was represented by the Director, Information Management and Data Processing, Engr. (Mrs.) Christiana Farotimi, agreed that the meeting was no doubt about building a smarter healthcare system where every resident counts and no one is left behind.

She enjoined all stakeholders, from the Primary Health Care Board to IT teams, to ensure that this proposed synergy is embraced when it comes to fruition.

Adebiyi-Abiola, therefore, called on residents to register or update their information with LASRRA to enjoy streamlined access to healthcare services and other state benefits.

The PHCB’s team included the Technical Adviser/Project Manager of the Licensed Company, the Solution Company that works with the Health Care Board, Mr. Boluwatife Adeyemi.

The Lagos State Primary Health Care Board (LSPHCB) is the coordinating body responsible for delivering primary health services in Lagos State. The Board ensures accessible, affordable, and quality healthcare for all, in line with the Universal Health Coverage mandate.

The Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASRRA) is responsible for creating a reliable database of all residents in the state to enable efficient planning, distribution of services, and implementation of social and economic policies.
