The Lagos State Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA) celebrated World Creativity and Innovation Day 2025 with a vibrant ceremony at the Isheri Skills Acquisition Centre, spotlighting the ingenuity of trainees from WAPA’s skills acquisition centres across the state.

In her keynote address, Hon. Bolaji Cecilia Dada, Honourable Commissioner for WAPA, declared that “Creativity is no longer a luxury but the currency of progress. Every garment stitched, every digital design coded here today, proves that Lagosians, especially our women and youth, are ready to transform ideas into global solutions.”

The Commissioner urged private-sector partners, NGOs, and development agencies to join WAPA in scaling programmes that turn local talent into world-class enterprises.

In her remarks, Mrs. Rianat Ajibike Onigbanjo, Permanent Secretary, affirmed that: “Your boldness to experiment is the spark that powers Lagos’ economic engine. WAPA will keep widening the runway so your creativity can take flight beyond our centres.”

Guest motivational speaker Mrs. Joy Success Ikpe, Founder of Leadership Challenge Foundation, inspired students to “Persevere, and see every training session as seed capital to nurture it and finance their dreams. Remember that resilience turns raw talent into marketable innovation.”

Highlights of the celebration included a high-energy fashion parade, intricate hair-art demonstrations, bead-craft exhibits, and culinary innovations. Judges selected category winners who received awards.
