The Nigeria Police Force has reactivated the issuance of Tinted Glass Permits nationwide via a secure and user-friendly digital platform: possap.gov.ng.
This move responds to public complaints over the harassment of motorists and aims to streamline the process for regularizing factory-fitted tinted glass, in line with modern vehicle designs.

A statement by the force notes that the reactivation addresses security concerns, as tinted vehicles have been exploited for crimes such as kidnapping, armed robbery, and “one-chance” scams. By identifying legitimate users such as those with medical needs or security personnel the system enhances law enforcement visibility and strengthens national security efforts.
Applicants can now apply online using their NIN and TIN, with biometric capture, background checks, and a 72-hour processing window. A 30-day grace period begins May 1, 2025, after which enforcement will start.
The IGP warns officers against misconduct during enforcement and urges the public to support this digital reform for safer roads and improved policing.
