The Nigerian Correctional Service has dismissed two recent viral reports as false and misleading.
In a statement by the Service’ Public Relations Officer, Abubakar Umar, the Service says claims of a bomb explosion at the Maiduguri Custodial Centre are entirely untrue. Authorities confirm the facility is calm, secure, and fully operational with no breach recorded.
The Service also denies allegations linking an inmate at the Enugu Custodial Centre to the kidnap of a 12-year-old girl in Rivers State.
The Service says no such inmate exists in its custody and no investigative agency has traced any suspect to its facilities.
Umar urges the public to disregard these reports, describing them as baseless attempts to mislead Nigerians and smear the image of the Service.
