Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu has restated his administration’s continued support initiatives to drive industrialisation and economic growth, through strategic investments in infrastructure, power supply, and policy reforms in the State.

 

Sanwo-Olu stated this today at the official commissioning of O-Care Disposable Syringes, the First Medical Syringes Factory in Lagos State established by Transgreen Nigeria Limited located at Odofin Park Estate, Ijesha, Apapa-Oshodi, Lagos.

The Governor, who was represented by his Deputy, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, said that his administration remains committed to creating an enabling environment for businesses like Transgreen Nigeria Limited and other industries to thrive.

 

He noted that the O-Care Disposable Syringes factory is more than just a manufacturing plant; it is a symbol of innovation, resilience, and commitment to excellence, adding that by producing high-quality syringes locally, it reduces the country’s dependency on imports, creates jobs for the people, and ensures that essential medical supplies are always within reach.

 

“As we celebrate this achievement today, let us remember that this is just the beginning. This is particularly important as we continue to strengthen our healthcare infrastructure to meet global standards. Our administration remains committed to creating an enabling environment for businesses like Transgreen Nigeria Limited to thrive. Through strategic investments in infrastructure, power supply, and policy reforms, we will continue to support initiatives that drive industrialization and economic growth”, said Sanwo-Olu.

 

Furthermore, Sanwo-Olu underscored that the initiative aligns with one of the pillars of his administration’s development agenda, which is healthcare and by extension, a vision for a healthier and more prosperous Lagos, emphasising that the establishment of the factory demonstrates the power of collaboration between the government and private sector in addressing critical gaps in the healthcare system of the state and the country at large.

 

The Governor said this facility supports the government’s broader goal of economic diversification by fostering industrial growth within the State, noting that it also complements the state government’s 2025 “Budget of Sustainability,” which prioritizes infrastructure development, human capital investment, and environmental sustainability. He noted that the synergy between this project and the State budgetary focus on healthcare underscores the shared commitment to improving the quality of life for all Lagosians.

 

The Governor called on industry leaders, healthcare professionals, investors, and policymakers to join hands with the government in its journey toward building a self-sufficient Lagos where innovation fuels progress and prosperity.

 

Commending Transgreen Nigeria Limited for its vision and dedication in establishing the state-of-the-art factory, he stated that “the O-Care syringes are designed with safety and environmental sustainability in mind, qualities that reflect the highest standards of medical manufacturing. These syringes will not only serve the needs of Nigerians but will also position Lagos as a hub for medical innovation in Africa.”

 

Earlier in her speech, the First Lady of Lagos State, DR. (Mrs.) Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu stated that the syringe factory is a significant boost to the Lagos State Government’s THEMES Plus Agenda, particularly in strengthening the healthcare sector and ensuring access to essential medical infrastructure for our residents.

 

Dr. Sanwo-Olu noted that in Lagos State, healthcare remains a cornerstone of the Sanwo-Olu administration’s developmental agenda for #Greater Lagos, she added that the Governor has made significant strides in revitalizing and repositioning the healthcare sector for efficient service delivery.

Describing the initiative as a major milestone in advancing self-sufficiency in medical supplies and enhancing healthcare delivery in the state and beyond, the First Lady assured that her office remains committed to complementing government efforts through intervention programmes that support vulnerable women, youths, and children, ensuring that no one is left behind.

 

In his speech, the Managing Director of Transgreen Nigeria Limited, Mr. Cyprian Orakpo noted that the O-Care Disposable Syringes, a product that will not only help meet the healthcare needs but will also contribute to reducing Nigeria’s dependence on imports.

 

Orakpo noted that the Manufacturing Companies in Nigeria come with numerous hurdles, “Such as access to capital remains a struggle, the cost of power is prohibitive, and the burden of multiple taxes from different government agencies complicates the landscape for businesses.
