The Minister of works, David Umahi has called on Religious leaders to pray to God for the smooth transition of Nigeria’s president, Bola Tinubu from his first tenure to second term in the forth coming 2027 General Elections.
The Minister made the call in his Abakaliki residence on Sunday during the Ramadan breakfast with Muslim faithfuls, saying president Tinubu has done well and deserves to be voted for a second term to enable him complete the good jobs he has started.
The gathering witnessed over four thousand Muslim faithfuls and leaders of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) South East and Ebonyi state CAN who were also invited by the minister to celebrate with their brothers as they observe one of the Pilar’s of Islam.
Umahi said the Ramadan period tallies with the Easter period which the Christians observe the same way their Muslims counterparts do.
He added that the importance of prayers cannot be over emphasized at this critical moment of the country. He maintained that muslims and Christians’ relationships cannot be sacrificed on the altar of parochialism.
He emphasized the need for the people of the state to continue to treasure the peace mantra of Governor Francis Nwifuru who is making a lot of sacrifices at ensuring the Citizens of the state go to bed with their two eyes closed.
The Minister noted that the second term of the president and Governor Nwifuru was not negotiable adding the duo have done much better in the security of lives and properties in the country.
“We all bear God inside us and God, will show love to us because we are serving God. So, I am happy for all the Muslim faithfuls. They are gathered here together with our Christian leaders and our stakeholders. Mr President admonishes us to show love. This Sallah period is also aligns with Easter period. So, we are celebrating with our Muslim brothers and when the Easter period comes we will still celebrate with them”
” So, I decided to come home to thank God and celebrate with you and we will allow both the chairman South East CAN and Ebonyi State Chairman respectively and Chairman Muslim faithfuls to make their remarks”
” You are here because there is peace in Ebonyi state. The good work of the Governor has brought peace, and killed opposition in the state.Only APC is the only political party in Ebonyi State. He has everybody on board. The Governor is doing all his best to develop the state and God will give him and Mr President good health to win and complete their second terms. We are happy with what the Governor is doing and we will continue to support him”
In their separate remarks, the Chairman South East CAN Rev. Fr. Abraham Nwali, Ebonyi State Chairman CAN Rev. Stan Nwokolo and the Leadership of Muslim communities in the state Alhaj Gambo, all appreciated the Minister for his show of love to all segments of the society.
The Muslim faithfuls prayed for the president and Governor Francis Nwifuru for not only remembering the Muslims during the Sallah period and for also providing security to Nigerians.
The group informed that anyone who feeds the Muslims during Sallah breakfast has fed God and as such awaits God favors.
