Presently, the Nigerian Senate Committee on Public Conduct, Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions has recommended a six-month suspension for Kogi Central Senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, over allegations of misconduct.
This was announced on Thursday during a Senate plenary session, where the committee chairman, Senator Neda Imasuen, presented the panel’s findings.
He stated that Senator Natasha was found guilty of all the allegations against her, primarily because she refused to appear before the committee for a review of her conduct.
Howevrt, the Senate is currently debating the committee’s report, with lawmakers expressing different opinions on whether the suspension should be enforced or modified. Some senators support the panel’s recommendation, arguing that discipline must be maintained within the legislative body. Others believe the issue should be reconsidered to ensure fairness in the process.
