David Umahi Federal University of Health Sciences(DUFUHS), Uburu Ebonyi State has admitted Nine Hundred and Ninety students for the 2024, 2025 academic section marking her 4th matriculation ceremonies.
The Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Jesse Uneke stated this at the University Complex during the 2024, 2025 matriculation ceremony.
He informed that, out of the Nine hundred and ninety students inducted into the University; Six hundred and forty four were females why Three hundred and forty six were male students
According to the VC, the Institution got six schools accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC) on the 7th July, 2021 and has since engaged in full academic activities.
Uneke Highlighted some key achievements of the University to include: 90 percent Completion of 1, 799 seater ultra modern Multipurpose Project from TETFUND, Completion of 20 rooms two-floors professional Guest House from TETFUND, Establishment of Anatomical/Cadaver dissection and museum Complex with Capacity of 190 Students per time adjudge one of the best in the Nigeria Universities by Medical and Dental Council Accreditation Team.
Others are: Completion of University incinerator and waste management facility and Completion of Boys hostels giant external water stanchion reticulation among others.
Uneke maintained that the school was able to achieve such feats because of its commitment to disciplinary actions among students, adding fourteen students have been sanctioned for various offences which includes two Students expelled for Examination misconduct, three Students received one year suspension for stealing, five students received one semester suspension for stealing, three Students withdrew for poor academic performance.
He added that the School has digitalized all academic processes hence, first Examinations and all University wide courses are computer based tests(CBT), all Financial transactions are online and digital. The University is also exposing her students to research very early and granting them access to International databases which have offered the students the opportunity to own three hundred electronic textbooks in each of their disciplines before graduation.
In his remarks, the Governor of Ebonyi state, Francis Nwifuru represented by the Secretary to the state government, Prof Grace Umezurike lauded the persistent efforts of the Vice Chancellor of the Institution to maintain the standard of the university noting, she was one of the foundation staff of the Institution saying she would always contribute to the growth of the university despite as little as it may be.
She noted that Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi state has been doing all within his reach at ensuring the university retains its standards in the comity of higher institutions in the country and beyond.
