Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa Matriculate 15000 Students

The Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa has matriculated about 15000 students for National Diploma (ND), Higher National Diploma (HND) and Part Time programmes for the 2024/2025 academic session.

Dr Hauwa Muhammad, Acting Rector of the institution presided over the 41st matriculation ceremony held at the institution in Nasarawa local government area of Nasarawa state on Saturday.

 

In her address, Muhammad said the students had been found qualified to commence academic programmes into the ND or HND programmes for the 2024/2025 academic session hence their admission and matriculation.

 

“We welcome you all to this peaceful community where we mould students in both learning and character. I therefore urge you all to be very serious with your studies,” she said.

 

She urged the students to be law abiding students so that the existing peaceful atmosphere conducive for teaching and learning will be upheld.

 

She also cautioned them against any act of examination malpractice, adding that anyone caught will be dealt with decisively by the school management.

 

“It may interest you to know that in the last academic session no fewer that 100 persons who engaged in examination malpractices were expelled from the polytechnic and such disciplinary action will continue to be administered,” she added.

 

Muhammad also warned them against engaging in any form of social vices and drug abuse, desist from any form of cultist activities and ensure they maintain peaceful coexistence among themselves.

 

In an interview, Muhammad added that the institution management under her leadership will continue to improve teaching, research and learning.

 

“In our efforts to maintain academic quality of our programmes, we have ensured streamlining the number of students intakes with the available infrastructure and resources we have.

 

“In the same vein we have commenced new programmes such as Railway Engineering Technology, Cement Technology, Welding and so on,” she said.

 

Muhammad who confirmed that she is in her second six months tenure as Acting Rector vowed to continue to prioritize staff and students welfare and complete whatever projects her management commenced in her first tenure.

 

“In this second tenure I am going to also really shift our focus on skills acquisition so that our students when they graduate will not depend on white collar jobs,” she said.

 

In another interview, Dr Munir Ahmed, Registrar of the institution confirmed that about 15000 students were given admissions to study various programmes in the different schools in the institution for the 2024/2025 academic session.

 

He listed the schools to include School of Applied Sciences, School of Business Studies, School of Environmental Studies, School of Engineering Technology, School of General Studies, School of Information Technology and School of Technical and Vocational Education.

 

He assured that all staff will continue to cooperate with the Acting Rector for a harmonious working relationship and to achieve the goals set out for the institution.

 

“There is coordination and everybody is being carried along. That is why everything is been run smoothly,” he said.

 

In another interview, Mr Jimoh Temitope, a new student thanked the school management for matriculating him to study in the institution and promised to attain academic excellence.
